WELL DONE GIRLS ![]() On a very wind swept Sunday morning Exmouth Amateur under 16 girls continued their league campaign. We travelled down to Torquay to Plainmoor Pinks at Qunita Road. Lauren Hillman opened the scoring after 3mins of play with a corner from Hayley Worsley. Our second goal came from a Natalie Volpini pass and Holly Burdick converted it into a goal. Ammies completely dominated the play with Leah Rawlings outstanding in midfield, hitting the cross bar twice. Unfortunatley one of these possibly went in but we didn't have a Russian linesman. Another ball from Volpini was met by Worsley who took the ball past the defender and hit a well struck shot to score. Finally Rawlings got her goal with a well taken shot in off the post. Beth Wills then scored from a Worsley cross with a shot from the left which went into the far right corner. Wills then hassled a defender into a mistake and Burdick took advantage and got her second. Still with the wind blowing across the field Ammies continued the second half in the same vain. Wills dormented the fullback constantly and on one such occasion crossed the ball to Burdick to slot home her hat-trick. With the back four with hardly anything to do, Jess Dunn momentarily swapped places with Worsley to put in a fantastic cross for Wills to get her second. Against all run of play Plainmoor got into Ammies half and scored with a well taken goal. From the re-start Burdick passed to Worsley who chipped the keeper from 30 yards out to complete the scoring 10 - 1 Despite the lack of numbers the team played some lovely football and Leah Rawlings was outstanding in midfield was player of the match. [Submitted by berniceworsley] ammies played their 1st game for about 8 weeks in the county cup against lfc sparta.they started at a very high tempo mounting many attacks from either flank of wills and worsley resulting in a goal after 4 minutes for holly burdick.ammies did sit back a liitle and allowed lfc to attack and score with a superb goal hit from left to right in the home team goal.ammies regained the lead with a great shot from beth willsand 4minutes later Ghligia scored from a worsley cross.with the half time break approaching a mix up up front saw a long ball beat the defence for sparta to score another well taken goal.the next goal was going to be crucial and with the home team utilising the pace of jess dunn did all they could to negate the attacking options of sparta. the back four of griifiths hillman ashcroft and volpini were magnificent in holding a high line and volpini was especially strong at the back.the vital goal in the 2nd half was scored again by holly and she completed her hat trick taking the ball around the keeper for a well executed tap in.from a corner with the ball hanging in the air saw a slight misjudgement by rose who took her goal well although in the other box might have been giving as handball.with the game petering out holly completed the goal scoring her 4th of the day a great performance from all players with every one playing their part in a good win .special mention must go to jess who followed her player all over the pitch marika who again won all her flick ons and held the ball up so well too holly who scored 4 great goals both wingers wills and worsley who not only got forward but also tracked back the midfield of rawlings steer allen although constantly changed around were resolute in their work but man of the match was natalie who was outstanding in defence [Submitted by berniceworsley] An exciting game with Emily Steer scoring a fantastic hat-trick [Submitted by berniceworsley] After a two minute silence Ammies girls under 16's started their completely dominating match. This was an exceptional game of football with every player making massive contributions, from the two players who voluntered to go in goal to Holly Burdick who troubled their defence every time she got the ball. Ghilgia scored a hat-trick, Burdick got 1, Worsley got 1, Wills got 1, and Allen scoredthe last. Emma Cooper started in goal and touched the ball once. The back four of Hillman, Dunn,Volpini and Griffiths were absolutely brilliant and the home side never had a shot on goal. Hillman replaced Cooper in goal for the second half and Emily Steer took her place in the back four. She had an outstanding match at right back adapting to playing in a totally new position. Jess Dunn did a fantastic job in marking Sophie Lou- Simpson out of the game. Rawlings and Allen in midfield sat a bit deeper stopping the long ball through which cost us in our last match against Crediton. The two wide midfielders of Worsley and Wills were both effective in setting up goal scoring opportunities for both strikers Burdick and Ghilgia. Changes were made at half time and Cooper came out of goal, replaced by Hillman, to link up with Worsley with some lovely one two play. During the second half the passing from the girls was world class and after a superb 22 passes through the field, Laura Allen blasted in a fantastic goal to make the final score 7 - 0. Well done girls! Keep up the good training, and a special thanks goes to Rick and Simon Withers for their continued support. MOM was Jess Dunn who did a considerable amount of work marking their fowards out of the game. [Submitted by berniceworsley] Ammies travelled to Ashmoor on Sunday for a friendly with 10 girls. We started playing up hill and the play was very open with Ashmoor attacking us with long balls up over our back four of Steer, Dunn, Volpini, and Hillman. Ashmoor took the lead with a simple far post tap in that Ashcroft couldn't get to. Ammies kept on attacking and were rewarded with an equaliser from the head of Ghilglia from a corner from Worsley. Ashmoor quickly regained the lead through another long ball that evaded the back four and the shot was slid passed Ashcroft into the net. The second half saw us playing on the downward slope aand the team started with some lovely skill and determination. Rawlings and Ghilgia started to win the midfield battles and from one challange a fantastic cross from Wills was met by Worsley with a brilliant volley into the back of the net making it 2 all. Ammies were on top and Rawlings was superb in marshalling the players around her and was able to put a through ball to Burdick who finally beat the keeper to make it 3-2. Ammies were now rampant and once again some superb playing from the two midfielders, assisted by Dunn and Volpini stilfled the attacks from the home side. And with Wills, playing possibly the best football of her season, created many attacks for herself and Burdick. The lead was increased by a simple tap in from Worsley aftersome great play again by Ghilgia, Wills, Rawlings and Burdick. The 5th and final goal came from a cross from Steer, who found herself in the penalty box,and her shot found Wills at the far post and she pushed it passed the goalie 5-2. Although they only had 10 girls. The play was brilliant. The girls played as a team with the best passing i have seen all season. There was determination and great communication from every member of the team. It goes to show that out of adversity something remarkable happens when all players play for each other. MOM was Ammies Under 16 girls for an absolutely fantastic display. Well done girls it was an absolute privilege to watch. [Submitted by berniceworsley] Ammies under 16 girls managed to play their second match of the season on a lovely sunny afternoon at Barnstaple. Ammies started playing up on the slope inthe first half. We had the better of the opening exchanges with Rawlings and Allen controlling the midfield enabling both wings of Wills and Worsley to attack. The first goal came from a lovely cross from Wills which was headed by Worsley passed the keeper into the back of the net. Barnstaple seemed to grow in confidence and were only kept from scoring by some brilliant and fearless goal keeping by Becky Rose, and some great defending by Hillman, Volpini, Ashcroft and Dunn. A couple of injuries to Volpini and Rawlings did disrupt the side but a big thanks goes to Jessie Dunn who moved to 3 different positions and adapted well. Emily Steer was also asked to play in several positions which she did very well. The second half we were playing on the downward slope. A superb shot from Rawlings increased our lead. Holly Burdick added her first from a corner from Worsley and Burdick headed it in to the net. Another goal was netted by Rawling with a lovely shot from outside the box which rocketed into the net. Burdick completed the scoring with a run through the middle and hittingthe ball passed the goalie 5 - 0. The girls played some lovely football and should bevery pleased with their performance. Ghilgia although didn't get on the score sheet worked very hard and was the M.O.M. [Submitted by berniceworsley] Go to page >> |
